Nearly Mine

BandBazi, Nearly MineNearly Mine is about a mother and her teenage son fleeing Tehran for a new life in the seaside town of Brighton . They feel lost, miserable and cold, but are also amazed at what this louche town has to offer. Kaveh, the son, and his mother, Minoo, have their notions of morality, romance and homeland turned on their head when first a local man falls in love with Minoo and then Kaveh gets embroiled in Brighton's gay nightlife.

Circus Music Theatre

BandBazi's trademark is aerial circus. NEARLY MINE explores new and original ways of integrating this into the narrative. Music has always been an integral part of our work and this will be the first time the company has used live piano in a production. Specifically selected songs from the score of South Pacific have been interwoven into the action, either sung in Farsi or in English, exploring how music gets under the skin, and reaches to all parts of the world.

As always, JOHN BINNIE has written an emotionally truthful and compelling script, devised by the company. Co-devisers on the project have been Owen Aaronovitch, Michael D'Cruze, Ali D'Souza, Andrew Joshi and Pablo Perezzerate.

"Binnie's script, like Vafadari herself, truly flies..." Mary Brennan, The Herald (Breakfast at Audrey's, Fringe First Winner)

Supported by Farnham Maltings, Made in Brighton and Brighton Fringe Arts Productions.
